The bed set is the holder of the cane. With different bed sets you can use the gouger for different types of oboe cane. It is easy to change a bed set. By moving the bed set to the left or right, the thickness of the gouged cane is adjustable.

A bed set is made for a specific cane diameter. To get the expected gouged cane dimensions you should not use cane with a diameter that differs more than 0,5mm from the bed set diameter. The bed set diameter is given by the “D” value.

For the guillotine we have cutting plates for several cane diameter ranges. If your gouger does not have the right cutting plate for the cane diameter that you want to use, you should buy the right cutting plate.

Specifications

We have bed sets in the diameter range of 9,5mm and 16,0mm. The diameter for which a bed set is made is given by the "D" value.
The length of the cane has to be between 60mm and 100mm. The length for which a bed set is made is given by the "L" value.
The nominal thickness in the middle of the gouged cane for which a bed set is made is given by the "T" value. It is adjustable from about -0,1mm to +0,16mm for T0,6 and from about -0,16mm to +0,16mm for T0,7.
